According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, “…by the year 2030, it is expected that about 60 percent of the world’s population will be living in cities,” which means societies are going to have to explore new means of providing food to and for people.
“Around 15 percent of the world’s food is now grown in urban areas,” reports the USDA, and while there has been much discussion about urban farming and urban agriculture, the question remains, is it a practical means of subsistence for the average person living in an area where acreage is scarce?
The following 10-question survey explores the topic of urban farming and provides you with the opportunity to share your knowledge of the subject and comment on it as well.
Thanks for taking the time to complete the survey! And if you have other thoughts or feedback regarding the practicality of urban farming, I’d love to hear them. Please feel free to drop them in the comments section of this post, discuss them on my Facebook page, or send me a tweet.
